Well, as some of you know, Dev was a very busy boy this past week. On Friday the 23rd we drove to Beeville Texas for an AKC show. On Saturday we showed to Mr Donald M Booxbaum who placed us 2 out of 3. After our down and back he asked me how old Dev was and then said that his age was his only problem. He definitely prefers a mature dog as he told a couple of people that their dogs would look better when older. On Sunday we showed to Mrs Arlene F Benko who placed us 1 out 3. She gave BOB to Kathi Linn’s Open Red dog and he went on to get a group 1.
On Monday we headed out with Eileen, Troika, Ice and Dustie to Nationals in Grey Summit, MO with a quick stop in Topeka, KS. We showed in the Open Blue class at Nationals but did not do anything. (I did not expect to do anything under Jean Fournier.) Poor Dev looked out of coat compared to those northern dogs! We had fun but we were disappointed because there were only 3 vendors there. It was a great road trip though! We stayed around and watched Rebecca and Coral compete. What a nice team! (Congrats again Rebecca, you had an awesome nationals!) We came back to Houston on Thursday and spent the night at Eileen’s.
On Friday Dev and I drove up to Whitesboro Texas for an ASCA show where on Sunday Dev Got Winners Dog under ASCA Breeder Judge Maria Murphy for a 4 point major! I am so proud of my boy! He was a trooper the whole week and never got fed up with being on the road so much. Of course we took his Frisbee and played with it every chance we got! One major down, two more to go!

This weekend I took Dev to the Belton AKC show and we entered Rally Advanced for the first time.
On Saturday we showed under judge Paula P. Barras. Dev was very focused and heeled beautifully around the whole course. We had to redo one station because he would not sit at the end of the 90 degree pivot. We ended up with a score of 97 and a first place. He was spectacular on his first off leash event.
On Sunday we showed under judge Kenneth A. Buxton. I missed my walk through because I was taking pictures of the breed dogs. Luckily I had plenty of time to watch and learn the course. Dev was very distracted this time. He totally lost focus on the off side figure 8 and we had to redo it. He was also out of position a couple of time. His jump was still perfect. He comes right back to me and does not run out front. The second to the last exercise was the come front and back 1,2,3 steps. We did ok on this but he kept stepping on my foot. We ended up with a 94 and a fifth place. The competition was tough but the dog that got first should not have placed since they passed by the wrong side of the last exercise. That should have been a 10 point deduction but the judge did not mark it.

This past weekend we flew to Elk City, OK and competed in the Breed ring and Rally. On Saturday we showed to Judge Lloyd H. Graser and Dev took Reserve Winners dog. We then competed in Rally Novice B under Judge Nancy K. Withers and qualified in second place with a 94. This was his second leg on his title. He was a little distracted due to the location. The wind kept blowing fluff and stuff into the ring and he just had to check it out! On Sunday we showed to Judge Lisa Graser and Dev got Winners Dog. We then competed under Judge Nancy K. Withers again and placed second with an 85. I made a mistake and did not perform the sign correctly. I made the decision to move on since it was as the end of the course and he was quickly loosing his focus. He still earned his title! The best part is that he earned it on my 12th wedding anniversary! Thanks Dev! On a side note I must say I was very proud of his work ethic this weekend. We were sharing a room and there were TWO bitches in heat with us.

This past weekend I entered Sioux in only Open Regular so we could try and get his title. He succeded on Saturday! I was so happy! So on Sunday when it rained, I let a friends stepdaughter run Sioux just for fun. He is so good with her and hit every contact. If only he would do that for me!!
Dev stayed home because it was too hot for him to just hang out and do nothing.

This past weekend I took Dev to the Saturday show and we showed under Judge Donna Francis. Dev got Reserve Winners Dog and Best of Breed Puppy at just 8 months of age. He showed wonderfully! It is the first time he has actually stood for the exam and he moved very well also.
We stayed for puppy group but he did not get pulled. He again showed wonderfully and I was very proud of him.

We had a good weekend in Oklahoma but we did not get the Major we needed to finsih Sioux. Sioux got Winners Dog under Judge Pat Huber and Judge Sharon Mango. He got Reserve Winners dog under Judge Nelson Huber. We needed to get Best of Winners to get the bitch major but no go.
Dev did better this weekend but we are still having issues on the stand for exam. None of the judges really looked at him.

We went the New Hope Agility trial in Plantersville this weekend. Sioux did very good but by Sunday was starting to get lame so we backed off. He is still recovering from whatever Dev did to him! He had one nice Regular Standard run and got a second place Q. We just need one more to get his title! In jumpers, he decided when I said come he was supposed to come DIRECT to me instead of just coming in a little for the jump! This messed us up on all the runs! (Yes, mom is a slow learner!) It’s time to find a different word.
Overall I was pleased with the weekend since we have not been able to do any training since Sioux was injured.

Dev is such wonderful boy! I decided to go to the HOT Dog Club’s CGC test and see if Dev could pass. He did great! It was a little rocky when the examiner tried to pet him because he loves to give hugs! I just had to keep constant eye contact with him and he did fine.
His down stay was rock solid and he did not even flinch when she dropped the food bowl on the floor. He just kept walking in heal position.
I am so happy with this boy. He is turning into wonderful agility dog also!!
I can’t wait until he is old enought to start competing!

This weekend we entered the HAHA trial in Hempstead and Sioux qualified on both of his runs to earn his PT in AKC. He did a great job and I was so proud of him. Danett took video of his run. Click on the link below to watch.

On Saturday evening I entered Dev in the match at the AKC show in Navasota. His stand for exam was 100% better. He even let the judge look at his mouth! The ring did not have a diagonal so we had to do a U shape pattern. It was fun! Soon Dev will be a showing machine!! The Judge had a hard time choosing between Dev and Ice. She said she liked them both for diffferent reasons but chose Ice. I was happy because I was tired and ready to go home!
Next weekend we have ASCA agility!

Well, we had a very productive weekend. We had 3 ASCA conformation shows on Friday and Saturday and on Sunday we had herding lessons!! Dev won his class in all three shows. Senior Breeder Judge Cheryl Padgett and AKC Judge Randall Sheets both pulled Dev out in Winners Dog but did not use him. It was very nice to be acknowledged out of the 6 to 9 class . We were in the ring with four or five Breeder Judges so the competition was very tough!! He is getting constantly better on his movement. Unfortunately, his stand for exam is not!! It did not help when Judge Randall Sheets loved and petted on Dev when Dev jumped up to give him a hug, but boy was that fun!! Dev kept getting smiles from the judges, he just has a great time out there. I am hoping my friends figure out how to post the video they took. http://share.shutterfly.com/share/received/welcome.sfly?fid=4576111cd4dbe47c&sid=8Bat2jZo1aKIPY http://share.shutterfly.com/share/received/welcome.sfly?fid=3562f76948475744&sid=0AZOWrFq2btWL_g
On Sunday I took both boys to herding class. Dev is still going to head and trying to stop them. He will chase when one breaks but when it gets back to the herd, he backs off.
Sioux is doing very good. We worked on his downs which still need work. He is too slow. We worked the goats in the first session and then brought in the lighter sheep. He is not watching the leader and is slow to react because of it. We need to work on more mechanical commands and I need to be quicker with them.
In the afternoon we went to the lake and Dev had a blast swimming. Sioux just stood on shore and stole the dummy when Dev retrieved it.
Overall, it was a great weekend and I am very tired.
